FINE REMINGTON U.S. MODEL 1863 ZOAVE RIFLE DATED 1863. Extra nice original example with 70-80% original blue on the barrel and darkening case hardening on lock. Mellow brass mounts and patch box. Brass butt plate stamped “U.S.”. Lock and barrel dated 1863 and lock stamped forward of the hammer “EAGLE/U.S. REMINGTON’S/ILION, N.Y.”. Barrel with “V/P/EAGLE HEAD” proofs at the breech. Stock with the original finish and two mint U.S. inspector’s cartouches. Bright bore with very crisp rifling. Original two leaf rear sight and blade front. Patch box with original extra nipple still inside. Original ramrod.
