The barrel is 36 5/8” from muzzle to breach face with an 1864 lock plate and an 1866 breachblock. These rifles were altered at Springfield Arsenal to 50-caliber centerfire. All of the mountings and finishes remained the same as the Model 1863 muskets. The breachblock retains 80% blackened finish and 80% case colors on the lock. The rifle makes antique excellent condition. The bore is bright and shinny with strong rifling and only a few very minor imperfections. The mechanical function is very good and crisp as are all of the markings. It has a nice wrist cartouche and the wood has only minor arsenal storage marks. This is a really nice Indian Wars Era 50-caliber rifle. I would consider trades for pre 1899 ANTIQUE PISTOLS and rifles on any of my items.. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO TRADE?
