The left wrist has a nice inspector’s Cartouche. This one was made by American Machine Works, Springfield, Mass. It is serial number 9162. It retains 85% original blue and case colors. The wood, bore and mechanical function are all excellent plus. These were manufactured from 1861-1865. This one was made in 1861 or 1862. They were issued to Union cavalry regiments, 3rd W. VA., 7th, 11th Ill., 1st Conn. 7th, 17 Penna., 6,9th Ohio and 1st Mass. About 30,000 were made for the Union cavalry regiments.
