Description:
Civil War Colt Model 1848 "Baby Dragoon" Pocket Revolver - Cal. .31 - 4" Bbl. - SN 61XX (1848) - all matching, except wedge is not numbered which is proper after about SN 2990. Bore is bright with sharp rifling but shows a few rough spots near the breech. Action is crisp with perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent overall with sharp edges and crisp markings - no rust, pits, or corrosion. Barrel retains about 70% blue drifting to brown - cylinder about 80% with browning and no visible cylinder scene as is common on the early 1848 - frame has darkened to a gray patina and brass has a nice mellow tone. Grips are solid and undamaged with good fit to frame and retain about 75% + finish. An above average and hard to find 1st year production "Baby Dragoon" in all original condition with perfect mechanics and Very Good to about Fine condition.
