John Rigby .450 double rifle. 26" barrels with nice rifleing. Strong lands and very minor frosting in the grooves. This gun will shoot well. Smooth overall plumb brown barrel color with minor pitting on the outside near the forend. Silver blade front sight, 1 standing and 3 folding rear sights. Hand cut top rib with "John Rigby & Co. Dublin & London" engraved. The locks are marked inside with the "Stanton" name and are non-rebounding. Both hammers match and are original. The Jones under lever is tight and the rifle is on face with tight breech locking and also tight fore end locking. The rifle weighs 9 lbs as shown.
The butt stock is a later replacement, and very well done. 15" LOP to a steel butt plate. Horn grip cap
and the wood is a nice solid piece of English walnut. The forend is original and shows its age but is
still sound and useable.
This rifle shows well with smooth metal, nice oil finished wood and great balance.
It comes in a period leather case with an original oil bottle, horn pin bottles and turnscrew. Thanks for
