Description:
Serial #(series 10) 9569, 7.7mm Arisaka, 26? barrel with a fine, bright bore that has light-moderate freckling within the grooves. This is a Nagoya marked rifle with fixed rear sight and intact imperial chrysanthemum Mon badge that has matching numbers on the bolt, safety, extractor, and firing pin and has 80-85% of the original blue which blends into an overall plum-brown patina with darker brown freckling throughout. A small amount of silvering is present, mainly at the muzzle and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt which has heavy pitting along the handle and on the barrel-shaped knob. The duffel-cut stock and handguard are in very good shape with scattered light-moderate handling marks and surface blemishes throughout the original varnish finish and moderate wear around the edges of the nailed wooden buttplate. This rifle was never equipped with front sight protectors nor provision for a cleaning rod. The rifle is accompanied by a very nice Type 30 bayonet with straight quillon and Kokura supervision mark on the ricasso. The blade retains most of the original blue finish which carries over onto the hilt fittings and the wooden grip panels are in very good condition. The metal scabbard has light pitting and oxidation throughout as well as a shallow dent towards the tip. This is an extremely nice, late-war Type 99 overall and would make a great example for a collection. FFL or C&R
