Description:
***   SOLD   ***   This quality Birmingham made hammergun has 29-1/8” nitro proofed and well figured Damascus barrels, double triggers and extractors. It is a back action gun typical of the last quarter of the 19th century and was converted to rebounding hammers at some point. It has nice engraving on the locks, hammers, sidelever, forearm iron and frame. *** The wood is has some figure and has been refinished. Checkering is good. The forearm is attached with a Wedge style fastener. *** Barrels were reproofed in Birmingham with 2-1/2” chambers and rated 3 Tons Per Square Inch. Right barrel is bored 0.733 with 0.002(Cyl.) constriction. Mimimum wall thickness is 0.0030. Left barrel is bored 0.731 with 0.026(m0d) constriction. Minimum wall thickness is 0.031. *** The overall weight of the gun is 6lb 13oz. Length of Pull is 14-1/4” over a steel butt plate. Drop at Comb is 1-5/8” and Drop at Heel is 2-1/4". *** This gun was made by Fletcher for the trade. The lock plates are marked “Fletcher”. However, it is marked “Adams & Co. 52 Finsbury Pavement London” on the rib which is the name of a London retailer, a common practice at the time. *** A very nicely balanced and well made hammergun. Nice shooter for Vintager competitions or to take afield.   ***   See this beautiful gun and other fine doubles in the MacNab booth at The Southern Side-By-Side at Deep River Sporting Clays in Sanford, NC on April 28th – 30th, 2017.
