Description:
***   SOLD   ***   This 12 bore was rebarreled by Westley Richards with 30” fluid steel nitro proofed tubes. The rib is marked “New Barrels by Westley Richards & Co Ld London” and, judging by the toplever design it almost certainly was made by Westley Richards for Army & Navy. Serial number is 4975 which puts date of manufacture in the period 1890 – 1896.   ***   The barrels have 2-1/2” chambers and are proofed for 1-1/8oz loads at 3 tons. Right barrel has a bore diameter of 0.721 with a constriction of 0.011 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. The Left barrel has a bore of 0,731 with 0.020 constriction for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.27.   ***   The gun appears to have been restocked with a beautiful highly figured piece of walnut. The Length of Pull from the front trigger is 14-1/4” to a checkered butt with heel and toe plates and very shootable dimensions.   ***   This beautiful bar-in-wood  shotgun weighs 6lb 8oz, is well balanced and swings nicely. A solid hammergun from a quality maker would be a great gun for clays or upland shooting.
