Description:
This is an old English Double Barrel Shotgun made by R.H. Bate, Sr. in Birmingham, England. This is a 12 Gauge Damascus twist barrels. The barrel rib has the R.H. Bate name. Some scroll engraving on most of the metal furniture. Both hammers have scroll on the side. The wood has some frontier repairing behind the rignt lock but is overall solid with lots of original varnish. The original checkering on the wrist and forearm are excellent and sharp. The wood fits tight to all metalwork. Damascus barrels are in very good condition with light gray patina. The ramrod thimbles are all tight. The locks work as they should. I believe this one is a shooter, but you will need to replace the nipples and add a ram rod.
