WWI Wartime German 98 carbine Mauser stamped on left side: KAR 98 and on top: ERFURT 1917. SN 9173, also on floor-plate , butt-plate, and has profuse German proofs Metal has a dark color and may be original .Bolt has all numbers that I can see 107. the German wood is excellent and may have been cleaned up long ago.Has a leather sling but looks like a more recent made. The 24" barrel has a shiny clean bore with good rifling a rare occurrence for a wartime gun using corrosive ammo. There isn't any import marks I can see so this was a vet bring back since most were converted to 98K during the 1930's! A very good example of a rare gun!
