Description:
Serial #A97958, .303 British, 25" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a post World War II rifle that has matching numbers on the bolt and on the correct, distinctive nosecap with raised but un-drilled and un-tapped stacking swivel stud behind the bayonet lug. The metal has 95% of the armory-applied black enamel finish remaining which has flaked on a few of the exposed edges as well as on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. Additionally, there is some mild pinprick pitting on the underside of the nosecap and the brass buttplate has a pale yellow-ochre patina. The wrist band is marked only with the Ishapore crown, no other model or armory markings are present. The forend and handguards are in fine shape with light surface marring and handling blemishes, renumbered to the gun on the underside just aft of the nosecap, and the "E.S.A." stamped buttstock has several small handling marks and surface blemishes under the armory re-applied varnish as well as a large white-washed spot on the pistol grip tip and a stenciled white marking on the left side of the butt: "S (S?)" in a lozenge shape. A single original magazine and tan canvassling are included and the rifle rates fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
