Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are extremely proud to offer this scarce example of Marlin's lever action takedown rimfire in deluxe form with special order features. The extra length 26 inch barrel is half round, half octagonal. The pistol grip stock is checkered, and is crafted out of select, if not extra select walnut. The model 1897 was the evolution of the model 1892, made in popular takedown form. The 1897 then evolved into the model 39. All were designed to handle every length of .22 rounds, even mixed in the magazine. She is in good condition. The barrel and magazine have drifted to a pleasant patina. There are generous amounts of case color left on the receiver. There are no added screws, as this is the second variation. The checkering is worn, but the wood is flush or proud to the steel. The barrel address is one of the sharpest I have seen from this era in years. The bore is bright with distinct rifling, also one of the best rimfire bores I have seen from this era. To top it off, she sports a Lyman number 1 tang combination sight with fine and coarse apertures.If you miss this one, Cabela's Fort Worth has a nice standard model with straight stock and 24 inch barrel for 3999.
