Description:
A Ketland & Co. London proofed flintlock pistol with a 5" long round barrel of about 40 cal. from the American Revolution era. The proofs on the barrel show it to be of British origin (Crown/V and Crown/P under barrel). London is marked on the right side of the weapon.  Overall length is about 9 1/2" long and gun has a silver butt-cap (gargoyle face), and a silver oval with an initial on it. This was a weapon that would have been carried by a gentleman or officer for personal protection. There is art on the trigger guard and handle area. Center hung hammer  locks up on full and half cock (Trigger needs to be pushed forward to lock) and the lock works good. Markings on the screws show that the weapon has been taken apart, although it appears to be complete. This is a typical British screw-barrel, boxlock, flintlock pistol with "cannon" barrel. Weapon is loaded by unscrewing the barrel just forward of the lock to insert the powder and ball (I haven't attempted to unscrew it).  Metal overall is  grey and spotted with corrosion.  There is thicker surface corrosion near the muzzle. Gun is an  antique and should not be fired without examination by gunsmith
I will take a postal money order, personal, or certified check. Allow two weeks for all checks, to clear.  It is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure any item you buy is legal in your area.
