Description:
This is a pre-owned Colt 1911 produced in 1918. It appears to still have its original black Army Finish and does not have an arsenal stamp that would indicate that it was refurbished. It does however have the inspection stamp of Major John M. Gilbert which is correct to Colt produced pistols of this era. It appears to have the original trigger, but it is hidden behind an aftermarket trigger shoe. The magazine, grips, and main spring housing have all been replaced with aftermarket offerings. The slide still has much of its original finish left, but does show some pitting and fine scratches. The frame also has much of its finish left, and shows some small areas of pitting and a large re-assembly scratch. This looks like a collectable pistol that was turned into a shooter decades ago, but is still a very interesting piece.
