Description:
Serial #Y2440, .303 British, 25? barrel with a very good bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This ?M/47C? coded, BSA-made rifle has an overall dark plum-brown patina mixing with the armory blue finish (about 70-75% remains) with scattered specks of mild freckling and a small import stamp at the muzzle. The matching numbered bolt exhibits the same mixed blue-brown patina and the buttstock, forend, and handguards are in very good shape with some light scattered handling marks and blemishes in the armory re-applied oil finish. An armory repair is present on the heel of the butt and has separated slightly on the right side. The rifle is accompanied by an excellent, unissued Mk. 5 rifle grenade projector, a single matching numbered magazine, and a period olive green canvassling. This is a great 1944 dated rifle that comes with an unusual and desirable accessory. {Ref. ?The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines? by Ian Skennerton; 2007} FFL or C&R
