Description:
This is a very nice dagger that measures 10 7/16? overall with a 6 1/8? curved, single-edged blade. The steel has an overall darkly mottled aspect with a dark plum-brown patina and freckling along both sides. The blade tip has a small amount of damage and there are faint but visible remnants of engraved decorations still present on the sides of the blade as well. The hammered silver hilt ferrule has decorative braided wire rings bordering the raised edges and has a wonderful old blue-black tarnish with some brighter white metal on the raised and exposed portions. The one-piece antique ivory grip is beautifully toned to a rich tan-caramel color with excellently defined grain and numerous hairline age cracks at the ends. The original hammered silver scabbard has intricately looped braided silver wire filigree along the entire length on both sides. The silver has acquired a fantastic dark blue-black patina over the years and is in very good shape with some impact damage and marks at the tip and a slightly loose chape. This is a very nice, dagger-length Dha, with very nice embellishments, and would make a great addition to a collection.
