Description:
Serial #1344a, 9mm Para., 4 7/8” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a very small amount of freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome “ac/40” coded pistol (with the early surcharged “40” date) that has matching numbers on the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block with the metal retaining 75-80% of the original bright blue that has silvered at the muzzle and on the raised edges and projections. Some further small splotches of gray are present on the right side of both the slide and barrel while almost all of the original white paint remains on the “S” within the safety/de-cocker relief cut (the red paint is now missing from the “F”). The dark brown phenolic resin grips are in fine shape with only minor surface marks and blemishes on either side. The pistol is housed in a 1940 dated, “jln” coded (Deutsche Lederwerkstaetten), hard-sided holster that is in very good overall condition but does have a replaced closure tab on the cover and closer slot on the flap is staring to break away. The pistol is also accompanied by two, non-matching numbered magazines and is a fine example of a very rare, early production, 1940-made P.38 pistol. FFL or C&R
