Description:
Serial #399225, .30-40 U.S., 30” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome rifle that has retained 90-92% of the original blue along the barrel that has faded slightly at the muzzle. The finish on the receiver has a slightly greater amount of fading along the rounded portion of the left side while the magazine door has a mottled patina with specks of freckling scattered about the edges and corners. The bolt is now an overall dull pewter gray color with some minor freckling on the handle and body and a few faint traces of original fire blue remaining on the extractor. The walnut stock and handguard are in fine condition and have only minor handling marks and small blemishes marring the armory added oil finish. The is a chip out of the toe that has been replaced and poorly glued. Probably could be improved. The “JSA/1901” cartouche on the left side of the wrist is still crisp. The steel buttplate has a lightly freckled gray patina with some scattered pinprick pitting and a lightly used, but intact and serviceable, Model 1907 leather sling is installed. This is a fine example of a U.S. Krag-Jorgensen and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
