Description:
#4993 Colt 1878 D/A, 5”x44WCF, 9XXX (early 1880 manufacture) and thus having the much desired “etched panel” CFSS barrel logo. The bore is about a 6-7 on a scale of 10 and has no deficits aside of light leading and moderate wear. The action is smooth and working well on both single and double action. The original nickel finish is about 50% intact and wearing to grey. Grips also show about 50% wear and a well-done repair to the left grip rear. Originally a 7-1/2” length barrel, some previous owner (>gasp!<) whacked off about 2-1/2” of the barrel to a more convenient 5” length, and doing so, the idiot whacked off about a thousand dollars of the value! Still, it is a good working and very early Model 1878. About VG+ as described. $1150
