Description:
This revolver began life as an 8" First Model American .44 top break blued revolver.  During its lifetime, the barrel was shortened to 5" like a Wells Fargo Model.  The original grips were hand checkered.  The hammer is a second model hammer. Front sight added. Metal is basically a smooth clean gun metal patina with no rust or pitting. Markings are fine.  Works fine. Bore is OK , rifling but some corrosiion.  Holster is an original American holster, cut down, with some checking and repairs.  Original army style belt altered to hold .44 cartridges.  Great western rig from 1870's.
