#1969 Belgian Flintlock Cavalry military style 69-caliber pommel pistol (AKA “Horse Pistol”) with 9” long barrel, unmarked with the exception of an 1815 date on the lockplate …and the Belgian proofmark on the iron barrel. Flat butt with brass cap and lanyard, brass furniture. This impressive large handgun is a real hand cannon for size, and would double as a good “billy-club” if its one shot had already been fired. Decent metal and wood, although does look to have a thin line crack at the wrist. Belgium was one of the largest arms making countries in this period and many, many firearms (both high quality and low quality) were exported from Belgium as military weapons; this appears to be of a better quality than most and is in VG overall condition. $650
