American Gun Company (New York), side X side double barrel outside hammer shotgun, Field Model, RARE .410 gauge (2 1/2" chambers), serial number 6766, American Gun Company was in business until 1910 so gun will be sold as a modern firearm (requiring FFL for transfer)
Receiver: outside hammers, retains very slight traces of case colors, double triggers, gas checks in receiver, trigger guard is Fair, gun seems to lock up tight but is very soft on closing, would not trust it with modern ammo,
Barrel: 26" length, choked Full & Full, brass bead front sight, bore is Good, Blue exhibits aged even patina from breech to muzzle with one small area about the size of a dime that appears to be from a blood stain,
Stock: semi pistol grip stock, appears to have retained origina finish in Very Good condition with normal handling marks (brass tack initials of previous owner in buttstock), LOP 14 1/4", buttplate is factory Bakelite,
This is a neat little beauty that is definitely showing its age but seems mechanically fine, I do not believe this gun should be shot with modern ammo, to CMA I am going to require that the purchaser agrees to having a competent gunsmith take a look at it if he intends to fire it, Retail value $400.00, Sale priced at $295.00
