Description:
S# 9837, 32 S+W Long, 3 1/4 inch barrel, bright excellent bore. This nickel finished revolver was built prior to 1899 and it remains in very good condition showing an interesting altered hammer with spur removed. These guns were built with smaller hammer spurs for police departments, a previous owner took this idea further , removing entire thumbpiece for ease of pocket carry probably. Gun looks great with 90% nickel, worn on gripstraps, and a few spots of loss on frame and barrel. The backstrap is engraved "JJF". As far as we know the gun has never been lettered so this marking may be able to be researched. Grips are period mother of pearl replacements with a chip on right side at butt. All markings remain legible with most on cylinder. An odd early hand ejector with cylinder stop on top strap of frame, rear sight far forward and no thumb latch. These revolvers were known to be finicky but this seems to work pretty well. Antique
