Description:
Inv. 5226

Smith & Wesson 1st. or New Model Hand Ejector, Caliber .32, Serial Number 99XX, Inv 5226

This is an awesome package for the serious S & W collector.  This unusual gun was only made for two years.  What sets apart from all other Smith's is it is the very first gun to have the swing out cylinder opening system.  Second, is that it used a top cylinder locking bolt activated by a cam on the hammer.  The next model, only two years later had the locking bolt moved to the bottom of the frame opening where it remains today.  The condition is awesome for this 1898 revolver.  It retains 99%% of the original factory nickel.  The only loss is only a very small patch on the edge of the locking bolt, near the hammer and another at the very edge of one cylinder flute.  The trigger and hammer case hardening has grayed evenly over the years, but there are no pits or rust anywhere.  The original factory pearl grips are flawless showing no scratches or any evidence of use.  All numbers match and the gun functions perfectly.
The chambers and the recoil shield are factory new.  There is a hairline cylinder drag ring and the marks always found on the recoil shield from the cylinder rod.  The bore shows absolutely no use.  It is mirror bright, razor sharp without a trace of use.  The gun comes with original factory box which does have a small dent and is end labeled to this model gun.  It also contains the original factory brochure, a separate sheet about the proper UMC cartridge to use.  The brochures because of their age are fragile and have suffered some light staining.  To complete the package is the original factory cleaning brush.  For the serious collector that's about as good as it gets.     $2495.
