You can still read part of the Sharps patent marks on the front and backside of the frame. The action works well on all positions. The barrel is full length with the original front and rear sights intact. The inside of the barrel still retains a nice amount of the bore with each land and groove being visible. On the back of the frame it has the original saddle bar and ring intact. The stock of the gun has an attractive dark tone to the walnut.This carbine was purchased out of Virginia, the sate in which more Civil War battles were fought. No doubt it seen plenty of action.The 1859 carbines are hard to come by and would make a great addition and value to your Civil War collection.
