Description:
For sale is a rare Gewehrfabrik Commercial Mauser Model 1898 sporting rifle chambered 8x57JS. This model was made in a very small quantity shortly after WWI (1918/1919)in the Danzig factory. This rifle has the correct proof marks on the receiver and barrel. The stock is serial numbered to the receiver. Although mostly original the bolt handle has been changed to the checker spoon type probably by Emil Eckoldt Suhl who was in business until the late 1920's. The original scope was changed in the 1950's to the Hensolt Wetzlar Dialytan 4x with Kesselring mounts. At some time there was added an Ithaca recoil pad and a Buehler type safety. The mechanics and bore of the rifle are very nice and would make a nice addition to any Mauser collection.
