Description:
#G95796, Sterling Davenport from Tucson, Ariz., A 416 Remington Magnum Total Custom on a Model 70 Action Post 1964 with Controlled Round feed, A 24" barrel with 2 muzzle brake cuts 1" from the muzzle, 1/4 rib with 1 fixed standing sight, Band front ramp with a locking sight protector, Barrel band swivel, 3 position wing safety, Talley Quick Detachable lever release bases and rings mounted with a 1.5x5 matte Leupold, Belly magazine by Blackburn with a straddle hinged floorplate with center bow release, A pure classic stock with full wrap around point pattern checkering, Ebony forend tip, Skeleton grip cap, Double screw rear sling stud, double cross bolts at the action, Shadowline cheekpiece, A nice piece of English walnut, Very nice inletting by Davenport, 13 3/4" LOP over a 1" pad, 9 lbs. 6 oz. without the scope and 10 lbs. 3 oz. with the scope, This gun is in 97-98% condition since it left the very capable hands of Sterling Davenport. He has been a custom stocker for many years and his work is a tremendous compliment to the American Custom Bolt Rifle makers plus he is a gentleman of the first rank. //////////////////////////// Sterling Davenport started as a custom gunmaker in 1975 and attended the Colorado School Of Trades in Denver. Sterling does it all, the stock, checkering, metal and complete finish. At one time he did the U. S. stock work for Rigby. Now Sterling Davenport III, his son, is building custom rifles under the tutelage of his father. Everything I have seen from Sterling is top drawer and it is pure American Classic in shape, function and style.
