Description:
WINCHESTER MODEL 54 FIRST ISSUE MODEL SPORTER serial number 63xx in .30 GOV'T 06. All of the original features of the ealry Model 54 are present including the factory installed peep sight option. The barrelled action retains fully 98% of the original factory blue. While the floorplate is clean and smooth, it has flaked to about 60%. The original grooved buttplate retains little finish and shows overall light oxidation. The stock exhibits fully 98% of its original finish and there are only a few light dings, remarkable for a 97 year old rifle. There is some very minor chipping at the upper tang. The checkering is clear and sharp. The bore and mechanics are excellent.
OVERALL A VERY HIGH CONDITION AND COMPLETELY ORIGINAL 54 WITH TYPICAL FLOORPLATE AND BUTTPLATE FINISH LOSS. THIS RIFLE IS A GEM!!!
