About Us: Antique Collector since 1985. I also have a few modern items that will require a FFL or C&R license. No exceptions. Happy collecting and investing in a product that continues to rise as material and labor costs rise. And the labor force becomes less about quality. China and Mexico items just don’t seem to last.

Description:
US Cavalry Colt.    c.1874   Ainsworth inspected.  Surely this old girl saw some action.  Its in very good shape for the age.   Serial range is 14xxx.   Has some medium pitting at the front of the barrel and on the sight,  the bore is rough.   All matching including the barrel with lug.  Some of the small internal parts have been replaced, bolt and spring, hand and trigger.  Action is timed and strong.   Grip cartouche is Casey and has the small c on the bottom of the grip.  Casey was inspecting just shortly after Ainsworth.  There are a couple Colt Cavalry's in John Kopec's book that show Ainsworth guns with some Casey inspected parts.   Even earlier  4 digit serial numbered guns.  Colt was in a rush to get these to the US Government,  I do know that.  The government needed the Colt SAA in service as soon as possible.   The old percussion guns were not efficient enough.
Very nice old Colt US Cavalry that looks to have all the major parts original.  Hard to find in this condition, except the bore, its pretty dang rough.
