Description:
Very rare and hard to find JP Sauer “Meister werke” Model 18 in 24 Gauge. (Ammo is available through Fiocchi and others.)This is an original and correct gun,( and it hasn’t had any additional engraving added to it).  The engraving is impeccable and the detail is exquisite.  The wood is nicely figured. It features an English stock, splinter fore- end with a slim horn inlay. The barrels are engraved above the chambers and at the muzzles.  Has a slight bit of cast off in the stock, and it shoulders like a beauty. The butt plate is a thick piece of horn and the end of the butt stock has an accent line. Bores are perfect and the ejectors fire strongly.  The barrels are 28.5” long. The length of pull is 14.75” and the DAC is 1.5”. The DAH is 2.5”  and the piece weighs a mere 6 lbs. The story is that before the war it was a wedding gift of a bride to her husband.  In 1952 this gun was transferred to an Army Intelligence officer from its then current German owner, the officer served with the 66th Counter Intelligence Company during WW2, and immediately after the war during the occupation of Germany.  (This US Army unit went on to eventually become the famous 66th Military Intelligence Brigade. The young officer left Germany in 1953 and the documents for transfer of possession and authorizing him to ship it home are available. (I have emailed copies of them).  You can spend a whole lot of money and still not have a gun as nice as this one. It’s the real deal, and an exquisite period piece representing superb German Gunsmithing.  Lots more photos are available. Shipping will be the actual cost, in a hard case with insurance via FEDEX. If you have any questions please contact me.  Strength and Honor!
