This is a really nice and unusual 86' Carbine, with an uncommon rifle buttstock, and is chambered in the rare 45-70. This carbine checks out with the Winchester museum , and letters. The metal has mostly gone plum, and the receiver shows a nice ring shadow. The wood is an attractive medium russet color, and fits well. It retains its rare carbine ladder sight that is marked "1886", the barrel address is very nice and the caliber marking is light but visible. The action functions smoothly and the bore rating about an 8 1/2+.
