Description:
This is beautiful example of a set of Joseph Lang dueling pistols/officers pistols. These pistols were made by Jones of London. These pistols are smooth bore and the barrels are 8 inches and diameter of the barrel appears to be 5/8 of an inch, platinum inlays where sights would normally be. This set is complete and original with a nearly 200 year old walnut case and all the accessories. Condition is as pictured, as good as you get, in my mind, ceertainly mint to mint minus considering the age. There is some rust in the barrels and one gunsmith said to clean them out with Hoppes #9, but I wasn't sure that was the best thing to do... he also said if they were his he would be shooting them.
The pistols supposedly were handed down from President Andrew Johnson, a relative of mine, to his sister who was married to Revend Wolf of Pennsylvania, then to Homer Wiley and then to my father. Sounds like one of those stories, I am not sure and I take little credence in the tale, I have no written proof so just view it as folklore.

I realize this is my first sale on this site, but I have been selling on Ebay since it started and I have a perfect 100% satisfaction record, which is not easy over all those years.
