Description:
This is an excellent example of an antique Winchester rifle. This Model 1886 is serial numbered 848 of about 160,000, placing it in the first year of production. The 1886 is a lever-action repeating rifle designed by John Browning to handle some of the more powerful cartridges of the period. This rifle was meant to fire the .45-90 WCF (also known as the .45-90 Sharps).
This rifle is in excellent shape, considering its age (almost 130 years old). There are a couple of imperfections in the wood (see pictures), but this rifle overall is quite impressive. The bore, considering the age of the piece and that it uses a black powder cartridge, is in very good shape with possibly minor pitting. If you're a Winchester collector or just like the classics, this is one you can't pass up!
This item is classified as an antique by the ATF's definition. Therefore, it does not need to be transferred through an FFL.
