Description:
Serial #16621 (Chas. Lancaster #12228 on trigger guard), .455/.476, 6” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves towards the breech. This is a fantastic looking revolver that retains 92-95% of the original bright, lustrous blue finish that has some very mild silvering and fading along the raised edges and projections. The topstrap has standard Webley “'WG' ARMY MODEL” marking with the Webley & Scott “winged bullet” on the lower left side of the frame, and “CHARLES LANCASTER. LONDON”, along the barrel rib. The hammer, trigger, and cylinder retention stirrup have some traces of mild freckling on the bright metal while the thumb lever has about 95% of the original blue remaining. The checkered hard rubber bird's head grips are in excellent condition with only some very minor handling marks and just some mild flattening of the points. The lock-up is still solid and tight and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in an English brown leather-clad traveling case with original Lancaster maker's label and eight compartment interior with original, lightly worn, emerald green baize lining. The case contains a period pewter oiler, brass cleaning rod/brush, and an opened but full box of Winchester .455 “Staynless” ammunition, sealed in plastic (Please note: The cartridges cannot be shipped to an international buyer and, in that event, the empty box will be included.) This is a stunning example of a desirable WG Army Model with case and an exceptionally high amount of the original finish remaining. It is a superb revolver and would be a great addition to any collection of fine British firearms. {Ref. “Webley Revolvers” by Bruce & Reinhart; 1988} FFL or C&R
