Description: Serial #A455, 8x60R, 20 1/2? barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some dark freckling within the grooves. The metal of theis 1886 dated carbine has turned to a pleasant pewter gray color overall interspersed with small specks of dark freckling, most noticeably at the breech and on the receiver (which also has some mild pinprick pitting on the receiver ring). The numbers are mostly matching except on the correct turned-down bolt, and the stock has a thick added military oil finish over numerous handling marks and small blemishes scattered throughout that has left the cartouches on either side of the buttstock visible, but no longer legible. The large sling stud on the left side of the stock is slightly loose. The action and magazine are fully functional and the carbine rates very good plus condition overall. These Artillery Carbines are rarely encountered and this example would make a great addition to any collection of early small-bore repeating military rifles. This weapon should be checked by a competent gunsmith before firing. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Portuguese Model: Kropatschek Serial Number: A455 Caliber Info: 8mm Gauge Info: 8mm |
