SOLD ! #423238. A Joseph Winkler over & under Rifle in 270 Winchester. This beautiful piece was built in 1971 for Paul Jaeger in Pennsylvania. The action is sideplated , offering plenty of canvas for the deep chisel engraving. The pictures are worth a thousand time my description…..
It bolts tightly with a Kersten and a Purdey flat bolt , the firing is thru a Blitz trigger plate system and double set triggers. The three piece forend has South Gate ejectors. Barrels are 24 “ long and made of Bohler Rasant steel with bores and chambers in perfect condition.
The stock is cut in a nice circasian walnut with a chin strap and a left hand check piece, that could easily be removed if needed. LOP is 14 “ over a 1” pad .
The rifle weight is 8 pounds 2 Oz without the scope , and 8 pounds 14 Oz with the claw mounted 2.3 to 7 Khales Elia super( with rail).
Condition is superb with a few handling marks on the wood. I regulated this rifle for the owner about 9 years ago for 140 gr bullets and it will shoot 1 minute of angle composite groups . The gentleman left in the leather case a target shot by him in front of witnesses at 436 yds with a group measuring
3.5”X3.5”.
It is worth mentioning that the replacement price for this gun by any of the Ferlach makers is in excess of $60,000.00
Having seen my share of them, I think this rifle is a prime example of the craftmanship found on Ferlach best guns .
