ROYALTY QUALITY OTTOMAN TURKISH FLINTLOCK KNEE BLUNDERBUSS CIRCA 1800. 20” o/a with 12” barrel with 1 ¼” muzzle and having profuse silver inlays and signed “DB” in a pear shaped barrel maker’s touchmark at the top breech. Heavy solid silver engraved floral stock inlays and mounts with four Turkish silversmith’s hallmarks and an Arabic inscription on the butt plate tang. The two large silver barrel bands are engraved with floral sprays and the rear band has two well struck Turkish silversmith’s hallmarks as well. Lock plate stamped below the pan with lock maker’s touchmark. Highest quality workmanship and complete and original in every respect with 100% of the inlay retained with no loss. Lock in working order. Very probably made at the Sultan’s Armories for presentation to a dignitary or a member of the Royal entourage.
