For your viewing is a Springfield M1 Garand ser. #dates to Feb. 1944. it has a 6-45 barrel, bolt is numbered to match time of manufacturing. Barrel is stamped BlueSky/Arlington Va. My investigation indicates that this rifle was de-commisioned by the millitary and sold to a US importer. Rifle functions fine. the bore is dark i suspect from WW II primers which were corrosive, but the rifling is strong. Included is a bayonet, clips, and M1 grand book.
I have this rifle on consigment. owner indicates it was from his sisters husbands estate. so how long it has been sitting is a question, as he has never shot it. with that said, i opted to clean the rifle and function test. eight shots and the nblock exited. next step was to fire for group at 100 yards off the bench. see last pic. As i was only going to do a 3 shot group, i decided to load shells single shot in the chamber. Being left handed, as I fed a shell into the chamber, I hit the slide release and the rest is history. I did not put a pic of my thumb, but i know the thumb nail is a gonner. three shots, 2" spread, horizontally with rear peep set a lowest setting. by the way, the three shots were from millitary ammo by Frankfort Arsenal dated 1941. shot good in a 70 year old rifle with 70 year old ammo. this should be a good shooter.
