#4940 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB, 44WCF, serial numbered in the 261XXX range (1888), standard 3rd Variation. Mechanically smooth and tight, bore is above average, at least a 7+ on a scale of 10 and may clean even better. Fine metal that has an even plumming brownish-blue, about 70% coverage and 70% density . I do suspect that it has had some cosmetic “fogging” of Cold Blue wiped on the original brown patina to make it this handsome and even coverage of color. Very good markings, and excellent replaced correct style wood with no dings or dents.. Standard open buckhorn rear sight and pinched blade front, standard trigger. Definitely in a well-done partially restored condition and well above what is usually seen at gun shows. VG++ $2675
