Standard military revolver, 44caliber percussion eight inch barrel with decent black-powder bore that should clean to VG-VG+. Good liberal amounts of plumming blue scattered here and there, VG grips, typically light barrel markings. Okay, that was the good part …now for the rest. The cylinder axle pin on this revolver has rusted to the frame and cylinder, and some previous owner with probable low intellect has beat the daylights out of the pin to try and break it free (…and missing most of the time and dinging up the cylinder in the process). It is also missing the little lever latch (an easy reproduction part to replace). Obviously, being as the cylinder will not turn, the action is tightly locked up ….so the mechanics are unknown. However, grim as this condition sounds, if given some time and a good soaking in kerosene and/or “break free” type chemicals, and then a little cleaning up of the metal dings on the cylinder, this could be a really decent major Civil War martial handgun. A bargain at $695! SOLD Antique: Yes |
