Description:
Very good working Sharps carbine imported by Sile of New York , and gun made by maker Marcheno of Italy with full proofs. The 28 3/4" round barrel has a crisp clean bore, for the .54 cal round. Recently had a new breech plate installed. The barrel is full blue with only small dings from use and the frame is strong color case hardening. Action works good and the gun was test fired and appears to have not been used much. The hand checkered walnut stocks are very good with no issues. Side of frame has the Sharps 1848 patent date. This is a rugged shooter, and most people don't understand the use of these guns! When loading the breech block is dropped by the lever, the ball inserted, and the powder charge pushed into the chamber . There should be no gap or area left open in the breech chamber when closing the breech block. The chamber has to be full of powder, any slight gap will mean a flash back up through the breech block, and you'll singe your eye brows. Muzzle loaders with a closed breech won;t have this issue, but breech loading black powder guns like the Sharps will! We don’t have asite .I prefer money orders or a check.
