Description:
Serial #D559X, 10 Ga., 30" Damascus barrels with a fine, bright bore that has a few very minor spots of frosting along its length. This is an interesting and quite rare early American breech-loader that has rotating barrels with a top-mounted thumb catch. Pushing the catch releases the barrels to rotate to either side exposing the chambers for loading or to use the manual extractors. This example retains about 90% of the original color case-hardening that blends smoothly into a dark plum-brown patina that also carries over onto the breech ends of the barrels. The barrels themselves have nice original twist pattern towards the muzzle and original nitre blue remaining on the extractors. The checkered walnut stock and forend are likewise in excellent condition with only some minor handling marks and surface checks in the original varnish finish. The lock-up is still tight and the back action locks are fully functional. These are seldom seen guns that are usually gray and pitted when they are encountered. This example is one of the finest we've ever seen and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
