Description:
Serial #45045, .38 Super, 5? barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This handsome pistol was made in 1947 and has retained 97-98% of the original commercial blue finish that has silvered slightly at the muzzle as well as along a few of the high edges and projections. Additionally, there are some faint disassembly marks at the slide lever on the left side of the frame. The checkered walnut grips are in fine condition with some minor flattening of the points, most noticeably on the leading edge of the left panel (a previous owner has also hand stamped the serial number into the interior of the grips). A single original magazine is included, as is a 2014 dated Colt factory letter that lists a shipping date of August 27, 1947, to Myer-Bridges Company Inc., Main Street at 7th, Louisville, KY, as part of a 50 gun shipment. This is a simply splendid, highly desirable, post-war production, ?Fat Barrel? .38 Super that is in absolutely excellent condition. Photos don't do it justice. FFL or C&R
