Description:
Serial #539737, .38 Special, 4” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome and little-used revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, barrel, and extractor, and matching assembly numbers on the yoke and frame with the metal retaining 98-99% of the original blued finish with just some minor silvering at the muzzle and a light turn-ring on the cylinder. Additionally, there is a small, barely noticeable impact mark on the muzzle crown, but this is very minor and does not detract from the appearance of the revolver. The hammer and trigger have about 95-97% of their vivid original color case-hardening remaining and the checkered walnut, diamond-center grips are in fine shape with minimal handling marks and some very mild flattening of the points. The grips are numbered to the gun on the interior and the mechanics are tight with firm lock-up. The revolver is accompanied by a 2014 dated Smith & Wesson factory letter that lists a shipping date of May 3, 1926, to Supple-Biddle Co. of Philadelphia, PA, and was one of four guns in the shipment. This is a simply splendid example of a five screw S&W hand ejector and would make a terrific addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
