Description: Webley & Scott fencing musket built for bayonet training. The right side of the butt shows the W&S name date 1943 over a No 3. this appears to be one of the last of a series of fencing muskets built from the 1880's to the mid 1920's. Most of the WW1 pieces were declared obsolete with the exception of the Mark X No 1 and No2. This piece is the No 3 build for training during WWII. The lower tang is marked Webley & Scott Ltd, 1943 and Brimingham . The wood and metal both rate excellent. overall length with bayonet compressed is 47". The WWII pieces appear to be far less common. A piece for the British military, Enfield or WWII Collector. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Webley Model: Fencing |
