I recently acquired a Krieghoff Essencia which is as nice a gun as I've ever owned or handled. I simply cannot say enough nice words about this gun and the way it is built. If you aren't familiar with the Essencia it is not built by Krieghoff, but by a German Gunsmith named Jens Ziegenhahn for Krieghoff. These guns are built one at a time and special order. Current shipping time according to Krieghoff is a minimum of 12 months after the order is placed. Now for the particulars of this wonderful piece of art. The Essencia is a back action sidelock and the double triggers and locks are gold plated to prevent corrosion. This is a true round body, scaled to gauge receiver and the bone and charcoal case coloring is the most attractive I've seen on any gun. Barrels are 28 inches in length and bores measure .626 in both barrels. Choke constrictions are .007 (improved cylinder) in the right barrel and .015 (modified) in the left. Chambers are 3 inches and so marked. The gun of course has all the bells and whistles, cocking indicators, bushed firing pins, articulated front triggers. Stock is of the highest grade and straight hand with checkered butt. Checkering is extremely well done and about 30 lines per inch. Dimensions are 1 1/2 X 2 1/4 X 14 3/4 to the checkered butt. Stock is cast off for the right hand shooter. Splinter forend has the Anson Release and is also extremely well checkered. Weight of the gun is 6 pounds 3 ounces and the balance is as you would expect, wonderful. This gun was ordered with upgraded acanthus engraving pattern which is extremely well executed. Gun comes in a beautiful leather case with padded canvas cover. Cleaning rod, brushes and jags, in leather pouch, snap caps, and owner's manual. If ordered today the base price of the Essencia is $29,895 and the engraving upgrade is $7500 putting the order price right at $37,000 and at least a one year wait. Price on this gun is a firm $23,000 plus actual shipping charges to your FFL. As always there is a three day inspection period on this gun with buyer paying all shipping charges if returned, but I'm not really worried about anyone returning this one.
