Description:
This is an early “serial number 1039”, inscribed, iron back strap 1862 Police Revolver in 36 cal.  The inscription on the back strap reads “Presented to George Orne By Independence Engine Company July 7, 1861”. “Our Country and Its Flag”, is inscribed on the butt of the pistol.  Orne enlisted in the 12th Massachusetts Infantry on June 26th, 1861 and was appointed 2nd Lieutenant of Co. A.  He was wounded in action at Antietam, Sept. 17, 1862 and died of wounds on Oct. 7, 1862.  Included with the gun is a copy of his Civil War Records and a copy of a photo of him in uniform.  Also a copy of a letter requesting leave, with his signature is there along with a history of the 12th Mass. Infantry.  This gun and inscription are absolutely original.  The inscription is light and well worn, but very readable.  There are minor amounts of the silver plating still showing on the trigger guard.  A really nice honest, inscribed, Colt! Additional photos available upon request.  Buyer pays $30.00 shipping.  Three day inspection allowed if returned UNALTERED.  Must be 21 years of age to purchase. Antique – no FFL required.  If your state requires an FFL for antiques, you should call 251-510-5007 before buying.  Any weapon you plan to shoot should be inspected by a competent gun smith before firing. US only - no International sales. Give us a call or e-mail us at jimconfederateordinance.
