This is a 1943 manufactured pistol that has a correct wartime Colt barrel, matching slide number, and retains 92-95% of the original parkerized finish on the frame and slide. There is some fading at the muzzle and silvering along the exposed edges and projections of the frame with some additional loss of blue on the breech-end of the barrel and on the slide lever and safety. The factory markings, ?P? proofs, and ?GHD? inspector stamp are still crisp and clear and the red-brown Coltwood checkered resin grips are in very good shape with some flattening of the points and numerous minor surface scuffs and handling marks on both panels. The barrel is British proofed at the breech and small ?GP? London proofs on the right side of both the slide and frame. A single unmarked magazine is included, as is a 2014 dated Colt factory letter that lists a shipping date of May 13, 1943 to Springfield Armory (Order #2285) and was one of 4,000 guns in the shipment. According to Colt all were listed as "Blue" even if they were Pakerized. This is a fine example of a wartime Colt 'A1 with post-war British proofs and would make a great addition to any collection.
