Description:
Browning Superposed 12 Gauge Over & Under Shotgun
SPECIAL ORDER 2 BARREL SET, TOLEX

General Specs: Browning, Belgium, Year 1948, 12 Gauge, 26.5"=7lbs 2oz; 28"=7lbs 15oz, O/U
Serial Number: 17116

The Browning Superposed has been the most notable over/under commercially produced.  From its arduous beginning in the late 1920's, to its introduction in the U.S. in 1931, the Superposed has been popular amongst shooters and collectors alike.  Adorned with various levels of engraving and decoration, this creation of genius gun inventor John Browning was finally discontinued from full production in 1977 with the beginning of the "Presentation Series".  This 2 barrel set, complete in its original Tolex case, sn17116, was a factory Special Order gun with unique engraving.  Pictured and documented in Ned Schwing's book "The Browning Superposed - John M. Browning's Last Legacy" on page 102, it is forever documented just as she sits today; a factory 2 barrel set, still choked the same as when it left the factory and retaining over 98% factory original finish throughout.  Shipped in 1948 it is a ONE OF A KIND, field and trap Browning Superposed.  Collectability is defined by originality, condition, desirability, and rarity.  This gun scores high in all four categories.  Set up in a very useable configuration, with light weight IC/M barrels for the upland fields and heavy 28" barrels with 3" MAGNUM chambers for your heavy work and clay targets, this gun will continue to increase in value as you enjoy its use.
