Description:
The Brun-Latrige 12 ga non-ejector SxS Shotgun has 27 1/2” steel barrels choked IC/Mod. LOP is 14 ¾”. LOT is 1 ½”. LOH is 2 ½”. The gun is marked “Diamond (Diamant) grade”, although I would call it a mid-grade gun. The barrels are market “Steel Crucible (Acier au Creuset)”. Barrels are proofed at St. Etienne at 20,495 PSI (double proofed). They have been recently professionally re-blued.
The action uses a double under-bolt with a hidden third faster in the standing breech. It also has side-clips. It is chrome-plated, consistent with many French guns in the early 1900s. The action is marked “SuperegLobLoc” which I suspect is a trademark indicating a locking mechanism of superior strength. The action is on-face and tight. It is also marked “adjustable closure (Fremeture Reglable)” which may indicate that there is a mechanism in the action to tighten it, if it ever loosened. The forend has an Anson release.
The outstanding feature is of this gun is the engraved fences. They are beautifully, high-relief engraved with holly leaves and berries. The rest of the action is engraved with scroll-work, approximately 25% coverage. The stock is plain but had been professionally refinished.
The gun weighs just slightly over 6 lbs.
